The program offers dual certification in special education/elementary education and special education/middle school.
This program will prepare student to become a certified special education teacher in primary through grade 12, certified in elementary education primary through grade 5, or certified in middle school education grades 5-9.
The program consists of approximately 130 hours, including University Studies, professional education courses, and special education courses.
Students will be introduced to a wide range of theoretical systems and education systems in their course work and are able to apply this knowledge to real students in real classrooms.
Observations, assisting classroom teachers, and teaching experiences in public schools are incorporated into university classes.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Applicant must have received or be receiving a high school diploma or a GED certificate before the term for which he/she is applying.
Applicant submit your official high school transcript after graduation.
If GPA is 2.0-2.99, applicant must also report ACT or SAT test score on the application.

Standards:

High school GPA of 3.0 or higher (no ACT/SAT test score required for admission decision).
High School GPA of 2.0 - 2.99 with an ACT composite score of 18 or higher (SAT 960 or higher).

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:

All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
Indian School Certificate (ISC)
Intermediate Examination Certificate
Pre-University Examination Certificate
Students must have a Grade XII chemistry or Grade XII physics.
Students also hold Grade XII math (Minimum math result of 55%).

Students are not required to take the IELTS or TOEFL Academic if English is their native language or if Students have spent at least three years at a secondary school where English is the primary language of instruction.

English Language Proficiency Minimum Requirements:
- IELTS overall score of 6.0 (5.5 for full admission with condition)
- TOEFL overall score of 71 (61 for full admission with condition)
- SAT score of 960
- GTEC overall score of 1190 (1100 for full admission with condition)
- PTE overall score of 51 (45 for full admission with condition)
- TOEIC overall score of 790 or higher with 160 or higher speaking ( 700 with 140 or higher speaking for full admission with condition)
