• Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics at the University of California Los Angeles is a 5 years (15 quarters) program.
  • It is an on-campus, day-time program offered only on a full-time basis.
  • Students should take at least 12 quarter courses or 8-semester courses in substantial upper-division quantitative work.
  • The major fields or subdisciplines of the program are:

    • Machine Learning
    • Social Statistics
    • Computational and Computer-intensive statistics
  • Students are required to pass these courses with a grade of B- or better, 54 units of approved graduate course work and to maintain an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
  • Students are required to complete at least one-quarter of service as a teaching assistant for a minimum of 25% time appointment. 
  • Students are expected to complete the PhD degree within 6 quarters of full-time work. Completion of all degree requirements normally takes 15 quarters.
  • Students are advanced to candidacy and awarded the Candidate in Philosophy (C.Phil.) degree upon successful completion of the written and oral qualifying examinations.
  • The UCLA departments organize many different types of seminars related to the Statistics program for the enrollment of the students to increase their skills.
