- 100% of Madonna Spanish program graduates are employed in their fields within a year upon graduation
- Within one year into and throughout the program, you will have different opportunities to engage in interactions with speakers of Spanish in a variety of places inside and outside the University and for a variety of purposes
- The third year into the program, you will work on an undergraduate level research project where you will conduct interviews and observations of the cultural experiences of Latinos living in the U.S. and abroad
- During the fourth year of the program, you will analyze the structures of the Spanish language and evaluate the Latino culture within the context of their communities in the Metro Detroit Area, Michigan, and the U.S.
The Spanish major introduces students to Spanish linguistics and sociolinguistics and provides students with different experiential and exploratory opportunities to study the Spanish language and the Latino culture within the context of the classroom and of the Latino communities in Michigan, the United States and abroad. The Spanish Major is designed to help students reach advanced levels of proficiency in Spanish in the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).
