As a Music major at Benedictine, you will study performance techniques and collaborative skills through intimate ensemble experiences; develop new levels of communication, listening and reading skills necessary for music performance; and improve your knowledge of the repertoire and audience needs that is inherent in music performance. You participate in Benedictine's concert, jazz and pep bands, and perform during the Department of Music's fall and spring concerts. You can receive 2-6 semester credit hours for completing an internship. Past students have completed internships at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Steinway Corporation and Luscombe music. You can also couple a Music major with classes in Entrepreneurship that include everything from basic marketing and handling the financial end of business to utilizing social and other media and find you are able to build viable, sustainable careers in music.
