EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN

Embedded systems are designed to handle a particular task within a larger mechanical or electrical system. These complex systems are everywhere?in hybrid vehicles, aircraft, medical devices, traffic lights, factories and even video game consoles.

From control systems and digital systems to electrodynamics, magnetics and semiconductors, electrical engineering focuses on harnessing the power of electricity. The field of electrical engineering has a number of specialized categories ? power generation and transmission systems, motors, batteries and control systems.

Electrical engineers design, test and develop control systems and digital systems that involve electrodynamics, magnetics and semiconductors. Electrical engineers also apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems dealing with electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. Electrical engineers are increasingly relying on computer-aided design (CAD) systems to create schematics and lay out circuits. They also use computers to simulate how electrical devices and systems will function.

Students who major in Electrical Engineering at Florida Poly study and learn in the classroom, but also apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems dealing with electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. This hands-on experience ranges from team-based challenges in simulated environments to internship opportunities with industry leaders.
