As a theatre acting student, you will take concentrated courses in movement, voice and speech, and scene study. The acting classes cover all genres of theatre and film and are designed with a personalized focus in mind.
If you choose to major in theatre acting at WMU, you will receive varied performance opportunities in the Department of Theatre's nine-show season, which offers experience in three different theatre spaces. On-stage experience is also provided through department-supported, student-directed Footlight productions, directing classes, and the New Play Project offered each summer. Several professional and summer stock companies conduct on-campus auditions, and you will also have the chance to showcase your talent for industry agents and casting directors from New York and Chicago.
