Our proximity to New York City makes it possible for you to visit leading global and national financial institutions such as the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank. In addition to preparation for graduate school, an economics degree also offers enormous flexibility in the careers you can pursue after graduation— everything from a market, policy or business analyst to a securities broker, bank officer or actuary.
In the programme delivered by Saint Peter's University you will be encouraged to focus on the impact our economic choices make on each other.
The programme seeks to:
- Provide students the underlying foundation for studying and applying the theories, principles, and techniques of the disciplines of economics and finance in a critical manner of thinking.
- Provide students with an appreciation of disciplined thought and open inquiry and the ability to relate and apply them to today’s economic and financial issues and problems.
- Enhance students’ understanding of the sources and uses of data, quantitative analysis, and the scientific method as it applies to economics and finance.
- Improve students’ understanding of the global economy and financial markets.
- Prepare students for graduate study in economics and finance or in related fields of business, law and public policy, or for entry level positions in economics and finance in the private or public sector.
