The Master of Science in Nursing-Primary Care Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) program trains health care professionals to meet the unique needs of the growing population of older adults. The program prepares you to:
- Practice in an advanced nursing role in a variety of settings
- Practice independently and collaboratively to improve the health of older adults and their families, especially for under-served and vulnerable populations
- Provide competent, comprehensive, culturally appropriate care to older adults and their families
- Educate paraprofessionals, professionals, clients, families and communities regarding health care issues concerning the older adult and their families
- Participate in clinical research that incorporates evidence-based care and extends knowledge in advanced nursing practice relevant to older adults and their families, especially issues of end-of-life care
- Incorporate Christian values and ethical decision-making into geriatric clinical practice
- Assume leadership roles in influencing health policies that promote high quality, cost-effective care for older adults and their families
