This degree requires 120-136 semester hours. Degree outlines are available online at the Teaching and Learning webpage.The Teaching and Learning major is composed of five components:
- academic foundations,
- pre-professional development courses
- specific B.S. Coordinating Board requirements for mathematics and science, and
- the Student Teaching Sequence.
All entering students must declare as a Pre-Teaching and Learning major and will work with an academic advisor to follow an informational plan leading to successful completion of program requirements. Following successful completion of pre-major requirements, students with a 2.5 cumulative UH GPA may declare a major in Teaching and Learning.Students being re-admitted to the Teaching and Learning major must:
- be placed on a contract in which they are required to obtain the cumulative GPA required for admission to the major (2.5) within 2 long terms of entry into the College, and
- complete at least two courses in major each of these first two semesters and have their course enrollments approved by academic advisors.

- 4th-8th grade Mathematics teacher certification
- 4th-8th grade Social Studies teacher certification
