Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is a broad and diverse field of study that offers students an education with several degree options.
The Master of Civil and Environmental Engineering (MCEE) degree is a professional non-thesis master's degree.
Upon completing the MCEE degree in the field of Civil Engineering, students will be able to:

Typically degree-seeking international students will come to study on an F-1 student visa and exchange students on a J-1 Exchange Visitor visa. To apply for an F-1 or J-1 visa, the student will need an I-20 or DS-2019 immigration documents, respectively. Occasionally international students may study other visa classifications, depending on their situation, so please check with an OISS advisor if students plan to stay on current visa classification.
Please keep in mind that all international students regardless of visa type are required to attend the international orientation and to check in with OISS at the start of their program at Rice University.
Once admitted, all new international students must complete their international student profile in the OISS Portal, regardless of their current or prospective immigration status.
