Athletic trainers are a crucial piece in the health and well-being of athletes at all levels. Athletic training majors will find themselves in careers where they will work to prevent injuries through preparing and training athletes before, during and after injuries. They are often responsible for or play a significant role in the intial assesssment and diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, and acute care of athletic injuries.
Opportunities to apply theories and principles developed in the classroom are available for all students planning to major or minor in each of the department's programs. A May Term partnership with Holland Hospital provides an intense 150-hour experience in all aspects of physical therapy. Other internships are also available. Consult the faculty for a copy of the program for your particular area of interest.
