The Master of Arts in English is a 30-credit hour program. The sole course common to all Master's students is ENG 826 Approaches to Literature, which is a survey of the main approaches to literary study and their practical application.
At the end of your program, you will write a four-hour graduate examination based on limited reading lists in three of five possible subject areas, according to your interests. For more information about the program, including details about the exam and other requirements, please download the MA Exam Reading Lists.
