The Dance Program offers courses in four areas of emphasis including Theory and Appreciation, Technique, Choreography, and Performance within a contemporary dance focus. Through auditions, dancers perform each semester in the departmental dance company, Dance Performance Project, as well as during the Fall semester with DPP2 devoted exclusively to improvisation as a performing art form.
The Dance Program at Southeastern Louisiana University is dedicated to the promotion of dance as a performing art by fostering the creation and performance of quality work within a non-competitive environment and at all levels of dance experience. ?The Dance Program emphasizes the importance of dance education within the art form and provides experiences and information leading to the development of a well-educated dancer, choreographer, and performing artist.
