The Master of Arts in Mathematics (Teaching Option) is designed for students who are interested in deepening their knowledge of mathematics, teaching at the community college level or pursuing a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education. Students: develop the following: the ability to analyze problems and persevere in solving them; the ability to communicate mathematics in written and oral forms; and the ability to construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. Students in the program experience best practices of teaching and how to implement them in their classrooms. Graduates of this program are competitive in the job market and/or are prepared to continue their graduate studies at the doctoral level.
