The Master of Arts in Criminology, Law, and Society is for students interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills to conduct high-quality research that makes an impact on justice, law, and crime policy and advances social science.
The Department of Criminology, Law, and Society is internationally renowned for its applied research in policing, courts, and corrections, with particular emphases in organizational change, community partnerships, crime and place, rehabilitation and recidivism, and social justice.
The students gain enhanced skills in research methodology and statistics and learn the latest criminal justice theories. They apply these skills and knowledge to their own original piece of empirical research in a master's thesis.

Academic Eligibility:

Students must have completed a baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution.
Students required a 3.0 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale in undergraduate work.
Students are expected to have completed a degree in engineering, business, computer science, or information technology, with foundational competence in calculus, statistics, and computer programming.

Language Requirments:

Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.

Most students come to the United States on an F-1 visa, but students who are sponsored by the U.S. government, their home government, or another organization may be required to enter the United States on a J-1 Exchange Visitor's Visa. To be issued an immigration document (Form I-20 for F-1 status or Form DS2019 for J-1 status), students must prove they have sufficient financial support to cover their expenses while at Mason.
International students outside the United States may use their immigration documentation to schedule a visa interview with the U.S. embassy or consulate nearest their place of residence and apply for an F-1 or J-1 student visa.
