As a major at the University of South Carolina, you will learn how to teach children the knowledge and skills needed to move with confidence and competence in a wide variety of physical activities. You will also learn the strategies needed to foster personal and social skills that are important to participation in, and enjoyment of, physical activity for a lifetime.
The physical education program, ranked #1 in the country and #3 in the world in 2016, includes several semesters of hands on experiences, where you will teach both in schools and other settings where physical activity can be promoted. The training you receive at Carolina will prepare you to enter the profession of physical education teaching as a leader.
Beyond the core curriculum through the College of Education, the course work for physical education begins with classes in biology, physics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology.
