Integral to this program is assessing risk associated with the radiation. Research areas include low-level radiation detection, analytical techniques to quantify stable elements utilizing radiation, nuclear forensics, environmental monitoring, radionuclide transport, radioactive waste management, and risk assessment.

The educational objectives of the EHP are for its alumni to demonstrate the following within 3 to 5 years post graduation:

  • the ability to address contemporary problems in environmental health physics and/or environmental engineering science in industry, government and academia
  • the ability to do independent research, project leadership, or professional leadership
