Students who major in Communication are taught to speak, write and work professionally while gaining true understanding of communication situations, media, research and application. Courses look at the theory behind communication and its goals, while at the same time putting theoretical lessons and methods into practice in a variety of communication mediums. Communication students are taught to look beyond what the message is alone, and discover the meaning, reasoning and art behind it. Through class structure, independent study, and actual experience, students begin to understand and appreciate human interaction, and work to become professionals with up-to-date technology, skills and resources used in the industry. Students have access to: HD, state-of-the-art digital sports broadcast studio ?& control room, 3-Camera Studio & Master Control for local productions, HD, digital editing lab with new iMacs & Final Cut Pro, 3 Cable Channels & Internet video streaming of APSU telecasts, Mac Lab with new iMacs and the Adobe CS Master Suite for news writing, desktop publishing, & web design, Multi-station Telephone Research Center with new Dell PCs, and Hands-on equipment experience from the start of your Freshmen year.
