Students will not be able to enter the program until?ALL?their general education core requirements (GECRs) are complete including the university graduation requirement of a Foreign Language and an International Studies course. The required supporting course work for the program must also be complete.?NOTE:?Eastern requires 180 quarter credits to graduate with a bachelor's degree; however, the CSD curriculum currently provides about 78 quarter credits. The student is responsible to complete the balance of credits?prior?to starting the program.?
Supporting courses for the profession are guided by the knowledge and skills outcomes of the certification standards for the CCC-SLP as set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).?The student must demonstrate course work for each of the following areas: Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics and the Social/Behavioral Sciences.?
- The appropriate course work in?Biological Sciences should emphasize a content area related to human or animal sciences. Acceptable courses in Physical Sciences should include Physics?or Chemistry. Acceptable courses for Social/Behavioral Sciences should include Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or Public Health.?Course work in Math?must?include a?Statistics course. Research methodology courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders may not be used to satisfy the statistics requirement. In addition, the CSD program requires coursework in Interpersonal?Communication. ?
- The required supporting courses can be fulfilled at Eastern or acceptable transfer courses from other colleges or universities.
