The primary objective of the dental hygiene education program is to prepare well-qualified educators to be instructors in dental hygiene academic programs. Upon the successful completion of this program, the student should have

  • Acquired advanced knowledge and skills in one of the following minors: dental management/administration, biological sciences, oral pathology, or clinical education
  • Developed the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary in the conduct of dental hygiene programs
  • Acquired the ability to teach courses in more than one dental hygiene field, and
  • Defined their own problems from the present body of knowledge in dental and dental hygiene education, solved those problems, and presented their work in a scholarly fashion
