As part of these breadth requirements, a practicum course involves students in a semester-long project, such as developing an exhibit at a local museum, processing an archival collection, or developing an interpretative plan for a historic site.What you'll do:?

  • Develop expertise in conducting local history research for museums, historic sites, and preservation organizations.
  • Learn to analyze and document the built environment.
  • Prepare draft nominations for the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Conduct historic resource surveys for the Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in a two-week summer field school studying French Colonial architecture and historic site administration in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.
