Undergraduate students at the University at Buffalo learn in both classroom and laboratory settings and can specialize in analytical, inorganic, medicinal, organic, and physical chemistry. More than half of our graduates attend graduate or professional schools. Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry often work as bench chemists in industry, hospitals, and government labs. Chemistry is an effective pre-med, pre-law or pre-business program. An increasingly popular career choice for chemistry majors is teaching in secondary schools by completing a minor in Teacher Education through the Teacher Education Institute in the Graduate School of Education.
