This Broadcasting program is offered at the Western Kentucky University.
Our facilities include a professional, three-camera digital television studio, two Avid editing labs with a total of twenty-eight stations, running editing programs from Avid DV Pro to Avid DS. Adobe Photoshop, AfterEffects, and Newtek Lightwave 3D Animation programs add to the power of the Avids.
For those who prefer Apple's Final Cut Pro, we have an 18-station MAC lab. We have 20 video field kits, of which 15 are Sony DVCAM camcorders, with tripods, microphones and light kits.
The broadcast program integrates classroom learning with hands-on practical media experience. Our student media includes Newschannel12 a 30-minute nightly newscast, Extra Point a weekly 30-minute TV sports show and the Red Zone a weekly radio sports show. Our student radio station WWHR-91.7 has a 20 ' 30 mile range. The station and a control room with a 53 input digital audio board share a recording studio in the Mass Media & Tech Hall. The campus PBS and NPR broadcast stations offer additional opportunities to gain experience in news, production, traffic and promotions.
