Students in the graduate program have the opportunity to develop prerequisite and advanced technical expertise in relation to specific concentration areas. Emphasis at the graduate level includes research, leadership, and analytical skill development. A team-based, problem-solving approach to course work and research is stressed, and a variety of field-based experiences can be integrated into the graduate program of study. The program's aim is to foster philosophies for lifelong professional development and contributions to the professional field of study, with a particular emphasis on development of sustainable technologies.
Graduates of the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment are prepared for careers in fields such as renewable energy research and development; building sciences, including building energy efficiency; sustainability policy development and implementation; energy consulting; and/or for continuing education at the doctoral level.
