The curriculum emphasizes the theoretical, the historical, and the practical.
The program provides a foundation in dramatic literature, theatre and film history, play-writing, and production. Advanced courses are available in acting, scene and costume design, lighting, theatre production, and cinema studies and production.
The department produces between 12 and 18 theatre pieces annually, led by practicing artists/teachers. Students are encouraged to become involved in all areas of production. Auditions and crew assignments are open to all university students.
