This is composed of not only oral/dental-relevant areas including adhesive dentistry, bone biology, periodontal wound healing/regeneration, salivary gland and biomaterials, but also Augusta University-wide areas of focus including renal and cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes, and cancer. Thus, the Oral Biology faculty regularly publishes in a wide range of dental and medical journals. It is noteworthy that the Oral Biology faculty holds joint appointments in the College of Graduate Studies which is highly conducive to their collaborative work with Augusta University faculty in the Colleges of Medicine, Allied Health and Nursing.

The Oral Biology faculty serves on college- and Augusta University-wide committees. In addition, they contribute to the profession by serving on the editorial boards of dental and medical journals, serving as peer reviewer for a variety of scientific journals, and serving on study sections including the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. In addition, they are active in professional associations and learned societies including the American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, American Physiological Society and the American Heart Association.
