The Ph.D. in Business - Management is a four year, full-time program. The bulk of coursework is completed in the first two years. At the end of the second year students will take a comprehensive qualifying exam. Once completed, the third and fourth years are spent on research projects, including dissertation research. Completion of the dissertation and its defense is the last requirement.
Our faculty publish in top-tier management journals such Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Journal of Management. Our goal is to prepare doctoral students to also contribute to the management field by conducting high-quality research.
Doctoral students serve as teaching assistants in their first year of the program before moving into their own classroom. Each doctoral student gains experience teaching in the area that best aligns with their research content area (e.g., Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management).
We strive to provide a collaborative environment, and faculty frequently partner with doctoral students on research. Recent collaborations with doctoral students have resulted in publications in journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, and Journal of Operations Management.
