Each student is urged to consult with a faculty adviser at the earliest possible time (even before the first semester) to outline a curriculum to meet his or her needs. The list of chemistry concentrations and/or areas of focus are detailed below. Although not required, several minors (biology and premedicine) are possible for chemistry majors.

GSU offers students the opportunity to gain hands on experience with laboratory equipment such as Rotary Evaporators, IR Spectrometers, NMR Spectrometers, Auto Titrators, and Gas Chromatography Systems to name a few!

The Department of Chemistry is fully accredited by the American Chemical Society and offers a traditional Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with the sub-disciplines of: Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Premedicine. An ACS Certified B.S. in Chemistry is also available.
