To receive a B.S.Ed. in Special Education and licensure as an Intervention Specialist, you must complete one of the professional preparation programs for teaching students with special needs and receive passing scores on the Praxis II exams (prior to September 1, 2013) Ohio Assessment for Educators (OAE) (after September 1, 2013) and a Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA). Students should also use the four-year plan on the program website and/or consult with their advisor about scheduling as early as possible. Moderate to Intensive majors must also complete a minor area of concentration and after the completion of reading courses, take the reading PRAXIS (or OAE) for HQT status upon graduation. All licensure programs are subject to any changes in requirements as set forth by the Ohio Educator Licensure Board.
