During the MS in Physics, the sequence is to choose a track toward either a thesis project or culminating exam. Whether students strive for a career path in physics, computer science, medicine, or another area, or aspire toward enhanced research or a Ph.D., the physics curriculum at UAlbany will prepare students to be a leader in their pursuits.
The program has theoretical, experimental and computational physics to discover innovative solutions to challenges that bridge our physical and digital world.
Students will take core courses in areas such as Statistical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Computational Methods, and Solid State Physics. Further, students will have access to electives covering diverse topics like Cosmology, X-ray optics, medical imaging, electronics, particle physics, and general relativity, and more.

Academic Eligibility:

Students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a college or university of recognized standing.
Students must achieve and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores.

Indian Students Eligibility:

Students should submit required official and complete individual mark skeets for each examination attempt, including subsidiary exams.
Photocopies of student's mark sheets are accepted only when they are attested by the University Registrar or Controller of Examinations and placed in a sealed, stamped envelope that is sent directly to the Graduate School.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

International applicants are required to apply for an F-1 or J-1 student Visa. As per the application process of universities in the USA, a student needs to have the following basic documents to procure a US student visa.

A valid passport that has a validity of a minimum of 6 months after students stay in the country
Form DS-160 (Nonimmigrant visa application confirmation page)
Application fee payment Receipt
Form I-20 if applying for a Student visa (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status)
Receipt Number on Petition filed by U.S employer (I-129 form) if applying for a work visa.
Original Marks Sheet or Provisional certificates.
Evidence of sufficient funds in the bank account to ensure you can survive the duration of course in the USA.
Score sheet of standardized exams like IELTS (6.5 or equivalent), TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, etc.
Proof that the candidate will leave the country once the program is completed. A return air ticket to the home country can be evidence of this kind.
