• The BS in Biological Sciences program at the University at Albany develops a deeper understanding of the living world.
  • The course sequence in biology, chemistry, physics, and math provides students with a broad foundation to build upon specialized areas of knowledge. From studying plants, animals, and microscopic creatures students will branch out into biology courses tailored to their interests and career goals such as genetics, neurobiology and immunology.
  • Students will obtain a general knowledge of the basic principles of biological systems through a series of required courses in Genetics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and Evolution and also obtain the depth of knowledge in a selected area of biology through upper-level courses.
  • The program will develop student's skills in analytical thinking through problem-based assignments and exams and laboratory exercises.
  • Students will be prepared to continue their education leading to an MS and Ph.D. for in-depth education in biological sciences or enter a professional school in the medical field.
