The BA in Journalism program helps students to hone their skills with courses including non-fiction writing, media analysis, and production, history of journalism, as well as the study of legal, ethical, and business issues.
Students will improve their writing while developing the ability to critically assess world events and political happenings. Courses emphasize critical thinking, historical context, editorial judgment, and communication skills.
Students, when presented with a case study, and in their own work, will identify ethical issues involved, will critically analyze them, and will identify the philosophical and professional considerations that underpin their analyses.
Students will design and research accurate stories using multiple research strategies involving data, eyewitness accounts, academic reports, and statistics.

Academic Eligibility:

Students must have a minimum of 120 credits and at least 90 credits in the liberal arts and sciences
Students must achieve and maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
The students should have completed the General Education Program at the University at Albany
Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores.

Indian Students Eligibility:

Students should submit required official and complete individual mark skeets for each examination attempt, including subsidiary exams.
Photocopies of student's mark sheets are accepted only when they are attested by the University Registrar or Controller of Examinations and placed in a sealed, stamped envelope that is sent directly to the Graduate School.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

Receipt Number on Petition filed by U.S employer (I-129 form) if applying for a work visa.
Original Marks Sheet or Provisional certificates.
Evidence of sufficient funds in the bank account to ensure you can survive the duration of course in the USA.
Score sheet of standardized exams like IELTS (6.0 or equivalent), TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, etc.
Proof that the candidate will leave the country once the program is completed. A return air ticket to the home country can be evidence of this kind.
