Which Amrita branch is better for CSE, Amritapuri or Coimbatore?

● Top Answer By Arvind Parashar on 22 Jun 21

Ans
One of my friends was a student from Amrita and she pursued ECE on the Bangalore campus. According to her experience, in general, the Coimbatore campus is better among the two. The reason behind choosing Amrita University, Coimbatore is because of its well-structured infrastructure and great academic culture. The Coimbatore campus has also remained consistent in being ranked high amongst most Indian colleges. However, for the CS branch specifically, my friend suggests the Bangalore campus. The academic culture in the institute is significantly good. Moreover, the rules and regulations in the institute are not as strict as on the Coimbatore campus, letting students have a better amount of balance. Since you are in close vicinity with various IT companies and are surrounded by classmates belonging from households where either parent might be working in similar companies can provide you a commendable orientation as well. As per the recent trends the average and highest CTC offered at the Bangalore campus is 40 LPA and 80 LPA respectively. According to my friend, you will also have a better peer group with good communication skills at the Bangalore campus as opposed to the other two. So, choosing the Bangalore campus may give you an edge.

Ques

Is it worth joining the EEE branch in the Amrita Amritapuri Campus?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Kapur on 06 Jul 21

Ans
I have a friend who is an alumnus from the 2007-11 batch of the EEE branch and based on her input, I would highly recommend you to join this campus! In case you miss out on getting into NIT/IIT, trust me, you should go for Amrita as your third-best choice. My friend had completed her B.Tech from Amrita and went to a top-notch government college for her M.Tech. It would provide you exposure like no other renowned college in the whole of Kerala. My friend and her batchmates were experts in the microcontroller program. Their expertise led them to participate in programming for FPGA. The department and its faculties are highly qualified as expected. Most of the faculty members are doing their PhDs. Plus, some faculties are doing their PhDs from IITs as well. Reputed conferences and journals consist of work by the institute's faculty members and students. Good funding is carried out to food projects wherein my friend's batch was one amongst them too. The curriculum pattern is super flexible. A lot of spare time can be put into important projects and fast-track courses can be completed too. My friend got herself the extremely prestigious student exchange program- Erasmus Mundus. She is currently doing their research for reputed companies in the country and abroad. Since most of my friends and her batch-mates were offered jobs by that time, traveling to Coimbatore for that placement was not a big deal. This job opportunity came from companies like Renault, Schneider, Ericsson, etc. Therefore, one should always consider joining Amrita for the EEE branch.

Ques

Is Manipal (Chennai) CSE better than Amrita (Amritapuri) CSE? How? Where do we have better opportunities?

● Top Answer By Aritra Dutta on 22 Jun 21

Ans
One of my friends was in Amritapuri so I know better about Amrita University than Manipal University, Chennai. The brand Amrita isn’t known among the IITs and NITs but the college is quite prominent among the companies and universities. The placement stats are rarely released, but the alumni prove that the placement of this college is quite amazing. You will be eligible for placements if you have scored above 6 CGPA. The hostel life of this campus is not as good as compared to other colleges yet it’s bearable. Boys aren’t much restricted from the hostel rules and regulations but girls have to follow the set rules. There are sub-disciplines that you can join by joining The FOSS Club, the ICPC team, and CTF team. For exploring FOSS you would have to join The FOSS club, for sports programming the ICPC team and for security CTF team will be a good opportunity. Categories CSE at Manipal (Chennai) CSE at Amrita (Amritapuri) Course Fee 17.06 lakh 1 lakh (1st year) Highest CTC 12 LPA 15-20 LPA Average CTC 7.5 LPA 6 LPA Recruiting Companies Dell, Byju’s, IBM, Infosys, etc. TCS, Mindtree, Capgemini, HCL, etc. Moreover, the college offers more amazing opportunities such as exchange programs and internships in research labs. This is an absolutely good set of opportunities for CS students.

Ques

Should I choose Amrita University in Coimbatore or Amrita University in Amritapuri? I'm willing to take CSE, and my rank in AEEE is 2,582.

● Top Answer By Shakar Jha on 08 Jan 21

Ans
Amrita University's main campus is in Coimbatore. The college states that rank and cut off for the different branches vary each year. At the time of seat allotment, students will be asked to select the preferred program. It should be noted that Amrita University is only considering JEE Main session 1 scores. The decision will depend on rank obtained in JEE Main or AEEE and seats available on different campuses. Cutoff: The table below highlights the ranks for the CSE program at the three branches of Amrita University in 2017. Branches Amrita Puri CSE Coimbatore CSE Open Quota 6940 1813 State Quota 16547 13801 The table shows that students with 2582 rank in AEEE have a chance of getting the Amrita Puri campus with both the State and Open Quota. But the Coimbatore campus' CSE program requires a higher rank of 1831 in the Open Quota. Students should keep the following in mind as well. Counseling Process: The counseling process was initiated by Amrita University on September 3, 2020. Students get to clarify doubts during the first allotment and those who choose a program in any of the campuses have to pay INR 10,0000. The Second Allotment is for those who opted for sliding and those who are below the last rank in the first allotment. Important Points: The counseling will be done through online mode. Students must keep in mind that the selection will be based on eligibility, seat availability, category, merit, and rank. In 2018, the opening rank for the general category was between 1-750 and the closing rank was between 9501 to 10000, and that for the reserved category was between 1-15000 and 15001 - 25,000. Students must also note that the Amravati campus is not offering engineering programs for the year 2020. The Coimbatore campus is the main campus of Amrita University and has live-in labs, holds student exchange programs, and has more than 150 faculty members.

Ques

Which is Kerala 's best private SF engineering college: Rajagiri, SCMS , MES Kuttippuram, FISAT, Mar Baselios, Amrita University or Amal Jyothi?

● Top Answer By Subhashis Shardar on 20 Jan 21

Ans
Amrita has the best and largest campus amongst these colleges. The table shows a brief overview of the institutions. College  Fees  Average CTC Highest CTC Rajagiri 3.48 lakhs 3.5 lakhs 6 lakhs SCMS 4.96 lakhs 3 lakhs 12 lakhs MES 5.36 lakh 2.5 lakhs 5 lakhs FISAT 5.68 lakh 3 lakhs 14 lakhs Mar Baselios 3.59 lakh 3.2 lakhs 7 lakhs Amrita 5 lakh 5.4 lakhs 43.33 lakhs Amal Jyothi 3.97 lakhs 2.9 lakhs 7.5 lakhs Academics: (Winning Institution - Amrita University) The syllabus and especially the question paper is not the traditional type but rather stimulates you to think.  They have a much advanced, updated curriculum and it is possible because they don’t come under any university and hence have the liberty to mold according to the latest industry standards. Placement: (Winning Institution - Amrita University) It is not easier to get placed from Amrita because you study in Amrita does not mean you will get high placements because the crowd in Amrita is more competitive.  All those who missed out on JEE come to Amrita. Top companies like Microsoft, Facebook, CISCO recruit only from Amrita out of those mentioned. Campus Life: (Winning Institution - Amrita University) The clubs in Amrita are almost international, as it conducts the prestigious ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest). Which itself is a benchmark to look for, acknowledging non-premier institutes like IITs, NITs, and BITs.  The clubs in Amrita are more diverse and active. It's tech-fest ANOKHA is also much better.  If you don’t have a blend with a very diverse crowd go for Amrita. Going by all the factors mentioned above, it is safe to say that Amrita University is a better alternative.
