Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) offers a 4-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree comprising eight semesters in nine different specializations. 

• The minimum eligibility criteria for B.Tech in HPTU is 45% marks in 10+2.
• Admission to the course is done based on the JEE Main or HPCET (Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test) score.
• The specializations in B.Tech course include Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Textile Engineering.

HPTU B.Tech. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria to be qualified for the admission process:

• Must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 45% from a recognized board. 
• Candidates must have Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects in 10+2. 
• Candidates from SC/ST category get a 5% relaxation in the minimum score

HPTU B.Tech. Admission Guidelines

Admission in HPTU for B.Tech is based on the marks scored in JEE Main or HPCET. The university selects 50% of the intake in its B.Tech program based on the marks scored in JEE Main and 50% based on the marks scored in HPCET.

HPTU B.Tech Application Process

The steps to apply for BTech in HPTU are given below.

• Visit the official website of Himachal Pradesh Technical University
• Go to the “Admissions” tab and click on “ Online Admission Form”.
• Now click on the program you want to apply for. On clicking the program, you will be redirected to the admission portal.
• If you are a new user, fill up the “Registration Form” to register yourself in the admission portal and then log into the account with the credentials.
• However, if you are an existing user, fill in the credentials and log into the account.
• Fill the application form and select the eligibility criteria that you want the university to consider, i.e JEE Main or HPCET.
• Upload all the required documents and scanned copy of your signature and passport size photograph and submit the form.
• After submitting the form, click on the payment link. The candidate has two options for paying the application fee, i.e via Online Payment or Challan.
• If you want to do Online payment then use your Debit/Credit cards and for offline payment generate the PNB Challan.
• Pay the application fee of INR 1550 if you are a general category applicant and INR 1400 if you are an SC/ST/PWD applicant. Now click on “Final Submit”
• Candidates paying the application fee via Challan must send it via speed post or Registered Post or in-person to the university address.

HPTU B.Tech. Course Details

The B.Tech degree in Himachal Pradesh Technical University is divided into eight semesters. The university has classified the curriculum into five categories namely, Foundation courses, Program Core, Elective Core, Mandatory Core, and Audit Courses. 

The foundation courses and Mandatory courses are taught in the first year i.e during the first and the second semester and are common for all the branches. The second and third year i.e semester third, fourth, fifth, and sixth focuses mainly on Program Core and Elective Core whereas, the last year i.e semester seventh and eight is purely based on project work and internships. 

Each B.Tech specialization has different amounts of credit. The table given below lists out the total credit for each specialization.
