MDU Rohtak PhD Eligibility Criteria

To get admission for Ph.D. programme, the candidates should meet the following criteria:

• They should have a Master’s degree in any relevant stream with 55% aggregate or an equivalent B grade in UGC seven point scale in the concerned subject.
• For Ph.D. in Management Sciences, the candidate should have a Masters or equivalent degree in,
• Economics/ Business Administration/ Commerce with 55% marks.
• Post Graduate diploma in Management or equivalent course recognized by AICTE with 55% aggregate or an equivalent B grade in UGC seven point scale.
• The candidates can also have a M.Phil degree or an equivalent degree with 55% marks or equivalent B grade in UGC seven point scale.
• For candidates belonging to the SC/ST/BC community a relaxation of marks from 55% to 50% is allowed.

For all specializations in Ph.D., the eligibility criteria are merit in the respective Masters degree and an equivalent entrance exam score is needed.

MDU Rohtak PhD Admission Guidelines

Admission for Ph.D. at Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) is based on merit in the Entrance Exam and academic performance.

How to Apply?

• Fill the application form online on the official website of Maharshi Dayanand University. Incomplete applications forms will be rejected.
• The processing fee for admission is INR 600/- for General Category and INR 150/- for candidates belonging to SC/ST in Haryana. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category but from other states will be treated as General Category.
• An entrance fee of INR 300/- has to be paid for each exam.
• The candidates have to deposit the fee in the form of e-challan to Axis Bank or Punjab National Bank.
• All mark sheets of examinations with self attestations should be submitted before the day of the interview.
• Entrance test for Ph.D. programme under the department of Life Sciences will be conducted by the Department of Zoology.
• Before starting the application process make sure to have these documents,
  • Have the latest prospectus of the university at hand.
  • If you don’t have an email ID, create a new one.
  • Scanned copies of passport size photograph, signature and thumb impression. The scanned copies should be 30-50 KB in size.
  • A working mobile number.
  • Proof for address.
  • Certificates for education qualification.
• Go to the official website of the university and fill in the details correctly.
• Fill the qualification details and click on the save button.
• In the Admission registration from, make sure to fill all the fields which are marked mandatory.
• Once all the details are filled, make the payment for Processing and Entrance Exam fee.
• After 1-2 days once you receive the fee confirmation login to the application portal and download the filled application form.

The merit list for admission to Ph.D. programme is prepared by the Department according to the following criteria:

• 20% marks of the percentage of marks in the Master's degree examination. 
• 10% marks of the percentage of marks in the Bachelor's degree examination. 
• 40% marks of the percentage of marks in the entrance test.
• Weightage of 5 marks to the candidates who have passed Master’s examination/M.Phil examination from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. 
• Weightage of 2.5 marks for every six months (maximum weightage of 10 marks) to the Project Fellows working in various projects funded by the UGC and other Government agencies.
• 10 marks for Interview (05 marks for domain knowledge and 05 marks for research aptitude

MDU Rohtak PhD Course Details

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) offers Ph.D. courses in more than twenty specializations under various streams. The courses are given below.

Pattern for Entrance Examination:

• Entrance Test will be of 100 marks containing 100 multiple choice questions of one mark each and a candidate must secure 50%marks to qualify the same (45%for SC/ST (Haryana state) and differently - abled candidates). 
• There will be no negative marking. 
• The syllabi of entrance test is available on the University website i.e. www.mdu.ac.in 

However, for Mathematics and Statistics, the entrance examination will carry 100 multiple choice questions of 4/3 marks each and the candidates are required to attempt any 75 questions. Candidates will get full credit for not more than 75 correct responses.
