Most of the engineering institutes in India offer Chemical Engineering course. However, very few of them are considered good for chemical engineering. Some institutes like ICT Mumbai, UPES Dehradun are the examples of such colleges which offer great opportunities for chemical engineers. Following are some of the best public and private colleges for chemical engineering-
Candidate willing to take admission in Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] program should be a pass in 10+2 examination from recognised Board/University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects:

Both the colleges are more or less good to pursue your studies. Though it is suggested that if placements are your primary concern, go for YMCA. DCRUST will help you more with research-based knowledge.
One of my friends studied at DCRUST. According to him, if you are willing to study at DCRUST Murthal, opt for either CSE or ECE. As the core engineering departments like mechanical or electrical do not have good placements. It is better to go for CSE or ECE as many corporate firms participate in their placement program.
Categories | CS/IT at DCRUST |
Course Fee | 2.36 lakhs |
Placement Percentage | 70-80% |
Highest CTC | 30 LPA |
Average CTC | 7-9 LPA |
Lowest CTC | 3-5 LPA |
Most of the DCRUST alumni received placement offers from TCS, Tech Mahindra, and HCL. About 80 students were placed in TCS. Other notable companies that recruit students from DCRUST include Fidelity, Jindal Iron and Steel, MediaTek, Finserv, Sapient, BEL, and many more.
One of my friends studied at DCRUST. According to him, it is a really good and uplifting college. The university is processed/run by the government of Haryana.
You will build great connections with other students. DCRUST would turn out to be great for you and your next 3-5 years. If you join here then make sure to contribute to making the university stronger and better.
For a B.Tech in CS or IT, YMCAUST, Faridabad is better. It has a better CSE faculty. The placement and exposure offered are also better than DCRUST, Murthal. Better CS/IT companies visit YMCA, Faridabad placements. According to the recent placement highlights, the highest CTC offered is around INR 29 LPA.
Having known some people graduating from both GJU and DCRUST, I can share some details about both colleges. See which one suits you better and opt for that one.
Categories | GJU | DCRUST |
Course Fee | 2.44 lakh | 2.36 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 60-70% | 70-80% |

Average CTC | 4 LPA | 4-5 LPA |

Opt for DCRUST among the two, as it provides better education and facilities than GJU.
One of my friends studied at DCRUST Murthal. He also availed the hostel and got the benefits of utilizing their facilities. Let me share what he mentioned about the hostels.
Lastly, for recreational activities, the hostels have a volleyball court, a badminton court, and a table tennis court. They also have games like carrom and a TV for students' break time.
The only thing that might sometimes become annoying is the frequent power cuts. Sometimes it occurs during exam season, which also troubles the students.
One of my friends studied at DCRUST. DCRUST is the abbreviation of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology. According to him, it is an average university.
Categories | DCRUST |
Course Fee | 2.36 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 60% |
Highest CTC | 10-12 LPA |
Average CTC | 4 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Amazon, IBM, TCS, Cognizant, etc. |
Overall, DCRUST is a world on its own. While studying here you need to keep in mind that it is not a school, you have to grasp knowledge on your own as nobody will focus on you separately other than yourself. So, if you did not get an opportunity to study at IITs or NITs, you can surely go for it.
According to my friends from DCRUST Murthal, here are the tips to score passing marks.
If you do these, scoring passing marks will not be difficult.
I have a few friends from DCRUST Murthal. According to them, the placement record for CSE at DCRUST is quite good. Some of the core IT companies that visit DCRUST are Fidelity, TCS, Samsung, Snapdeal, Tech Mahindra, etc.
According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at the institute is 3-4 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was 10 LPA. Also, you should note that placement depends a lot on the skill of the student rather than the institute.
If you want to get admission in CS at DCRUST, then you will need to have a good JEE Mains rank. If you are a general category student then your rank should be under 40,000. You will need to apply for DCRUST, through Haryana state technical counseling. Even if you aren’t getting CS, you can take admission to other branches, there are chances that you can slide your branch to CS after completing your 1st year.
