Who are the best faculties in various departments of SVNIT?

● Top Answer By Abinash Guha on 22 Mar 22

Ans
Shrinivas Arkatar sir from the Civil Engineering department is quite famous among students. He has in-depth knowledge about transportation. He has a unique way of setting questions. The questions usually have all the required formulas but it's so mindful that most students get confused.  Amit Solanki sir is also quite reputed among the Civil students. His teaching style is unique. He has a way of connecting things from day-to-day life to the subjects he teaches.  Students also love attending the lectures of YD Patil Sir, C.D. Modhera Sir, Praveen Rathod Sir.

Which is the better option; doing computer engineering at SVNIT-Surat, Gujarat or b.tech in ict at DA-IICT Gandhinagar, Gujarat?

● Top Answer By Madhumanti Halder on 19 May 21

Ans
According to my friends at DAIICT, it is definitely a better choice among the two. Considering factors like placement, brand reputation, and coding culture.  The points below give a brief overview of some of the advantages of choosing DAIICT over SVNIT. According to some professors of SVNIT itself, DAIICT is a better institute for CSE and IT, compared to SVNIT. The overall placement statistics of DAIICT are far better than that in SVNIT, with more high-paying jobs offered in the institute.  DAIICT doesn’t have as good a reputation as NITs in India. But, in companies like Amazon, MAQ, Morgan Stanley, etc, DAIICT has a far better reputation than SVNIT. There is an excellent open-source coding environment in DAIICT.  The number of GSoC entries from both institutes makes it evident that DAIICT has much more success in open-source contribution. Categories CSE at SVNIT ICT at DAIICT Course Fee 5.47 lakh 7.28 LPA Placement Percentage 90% 95% Highest CTC 35-40 LPA 43 LPA Average CTC 10-12 LPA 19 LPA Therefore, it is clear that DAIICT is a much better choice, especially in subjects like CS and IT. In DAIICT, there is a high exposure in higher studies among students. There is a good environment for competitive coding too in DAIICT. In every notable coding contest from platforms like Codeforces, Codechef, etc, there are at least 30-40 participants from DAIICT.

How was your first day at NIT Surat? (SVNIT)?

● Top Answer By Amit Sharma on 14 May 21

Ans
A friend of mine studies there at NIT Surat, here’s a snippet from his first day at the institute.  He was already familiar with the room as he visited the hostel on the day he went to the campus for admission. After setting up the room he contacted a senior to know what to do next.  His senior advised him to buy a bicycle as it’s quite a walk from the hostel compound to the classroom complex.  After a few hours, he went to the mess with his friends from school who also took admission at the institute and was staying in the hostel. Despite the reputation of mess food at any given educational institute, my friend vouches for the food at NIT Surat.  When they came back from the mess, the light was out. They spend their first night in the dark. The power cut continued till the next morning.

Ques

How is the SVNIT Campus?

● Top Answer By Utsav Bose on 14 May 21

Ans
Unlike other NIT campuses, the SVNIT campus is located in the main city. Other NITs are generally located on the outskirts of the main cities. Here are some details about SVNIT. Any basic requirement that concerns your stationary or entertainment can promptly be fulfilled as everything is covered within 2 kilometers of radius.  The campus will never disappoint you as, like any other IIT/NIT, the SVNIT campus is adorned with greenery all around Previously, the lake present near the campus used to be a part of the campus too, but now the authorities have constructed a wall dividing the lake and the campus.  There are no bus or shuttle services inside the campus as it is relatively smaller. But the roads are pretty decent. Several people come inside the campus for morning walks. New CRC buildings are where classes are conducted for the first years. The infrastructure is excellent.  Old classes carry on in the old departments as it is.  Old and new hostels are present on the campus. Third and fourth-year students stay in the new hostels. A ground is present on the campus too where students prefer to play cricket and football. But since it is not maintained that often. Also, two basketball and tennis courts are present on the campus.  As far as indoor games are concerned, there are two table tennis and badminton courts. A gym is also present, but it is restricted for the first years.  Staff bungalows are appealing. Behind that, there is the girl's hostel. For financial services, there is a post-office and SBI branch present on the campus too.  This should give you an idea about the SVNIT campus. You can find the photos of the campus on the official website.

My friend stayed at Mother Teresa Bhavna and here is her input regarding the mess menu. Breakfast menu: In Breakfast, they serve Poha, Maggie, Pasta, Bhel, Idli sambhar, Bada sambhar, Dhokla, Sandwiches, Omelets, Paratha, Upma, Veg Frankie, Uttapam, Boiled eggs, Dosa. Apart from these, there are few other options for breakfast like Bread(brown and white), toasted and not toasted with jam, sauce, and butter. You can also have cereals, with milk. These options are available every day. Lunch menu: In Lunch, you will have Rotis with gee and without ghee based on your preference along with dal, salad, curd, and vegetables based on your choice. They generally serve potato, cauliflower, chana, rajma, lady's finger, cabbage, carrots, beans, sprouts, and cottage cheese, etc. On alternate days, they also serve Dahi vadas, chili pakora, and Dahi chaat. The Saturday lunch is always special with paneer, sweets and ice cream. Dinner menu: In dinner, they serve parathas, pav bhaji, cottage cheese, Manchurian noodles, potato, along with jowar roti, dal dhokli, and egg curry. These are the mess menu of SVNIT, Surat. Anyways it changes but I am mentioning the food items which are more constant in the menu.

Ques

Should I pursue IT in NIT Surathkal or CSE in SVNIT Surat?

● Top Answer By Debanjana Basu on 13 Apr 21

Ans
IT in NIT Surathkal is always a better option than CSE in SVNIT Surat. NIT Surathkal is a much better college than SVNIT Surat in almost every aspect. The faculty of SVNIT might be a little better in CSE department than NIT Surathkal in the IT department but except this, in every way, NIT Surathkal is much better. The curriculum of this college is up to date and the infrastructure of this college is also much better including the laboratories. Equipment for all the subjects is available and the students are focused on gaining practical knowledge of the subjects. Students are required to do a lot of practical tasks which helps them to understand the concepts better and clear the basics. The coding culture of this college is also very good and provides a healthy environment for the students to learn and grow. The placement records of NIT Surathkal are also much better compared to SVNIT Surat which makes this college an even better choice over SVNIT Surat. NIT Surathkal Placements IT Department Batch 2020:  Companies visited Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Sprinkler and ISRO too.   Highest Package   43 LPA   Average Package   17.06 LPA   Placement percentage   100% With this, we know that NIT Surathkal is a very good college with 100% placements records this year. You should definitely choose NIT Surathkal as it will be very beneficial for your career.

Ques

Which college is best for doing master's in structural engineering? CEPT university, Nirma or SVNIT Surat?

● Top Answer By Trisha Sharma on 29 Jul 21

Ans
SVNIT is theoretical research-based while CEPT is more practice-oriented. If you are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. further or if you would like to get placed on-campus, then SVNIT is your place. After matching your requirements focus on excelling at GATE to get structural engineering getting into structural engineering at SVNIT. If you choose CEPT then you will have to work hard to get a job. It is well known in all of Asia and has one of the best civil engineers. The faculty is highly qualified, its alumni are working in MNCs and most of them get annual trips abroad. Lastly, if you are not from Ahmedabad you will have to stay at the CEPT hostel which is an awesome place to stay, as you will see for yourself if you so choose to be. Be mindful of the fees because both SVNIT and Nirma charge more about the quality they provide.

Ques

Should I prefer NIT Surat CS or BITS Goa EEE or CS?

● Top Answer By Akshay Prajapati on 21 Mar 23

Ans
There are several reasons why BITS Pilani Goa Campus CS is considered better than NIT Surat CS. Here are some of the main reasons: Better Infrastructure: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a world-class infrastructure with modern facilities and amenities that provide students with a comfortable and conducive learning environment. On the other hand, NIT Surat's infrastructure, though decent, is not as advanced as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Better Alumni Network: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a vast and active alumni network that provides students with excellent networking opportunities and career guidance. NIT Surat's alumni network, while present, is not as well-established or connected as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Better Tag: BITS Pilani Goa Campus is a highly reputed and well-known institution in India and around the world. It is recognized for its academic excellence and has a strong brand value. In comparison, NIT Surat is not as well-known or recognized as BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Better Teachers: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has some of the best faculty members in the country who are highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated to teaching. NIT Surat's faculty, while competent, is not as well-regarded as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Better Coding Culture: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a strong coding culture, with numerous coding clubs, events, and hackathons that encourage students to develop their coding skills and innovate. NIT Surat, while also promoting coding, does not have as vibrant a coding culture as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus. No Ragging: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a strict anti-ragging policy, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all students. In contrast, NIT Surat has had some cases of ragging in the past. Better Co-Curriculars and Extra-Curriculars: BITS Pilani Goa Campus offers a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including sports, cultural events, and technical clubs. NIT Surat also offers such activities, but the range and quality of these activities are not as good as those offered by BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Better All-Round Development: BITS Pilani Goa Campus focuses on the overall development of students, with a holistic approach that emphasizes academic, personal, and professional growth. NIT Surat also aims for this, but the approach and emphasis are not as comprehensive as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Overall, while NIT Surat is a good institution, BITS Pilani Goa Campus CS is considered a better option due to its superior infrastructure, faculty, alumni network, coding culture, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and overall focus on student development.

● Top Answer By Indrani Mukherjee on 18 Aug 22

Ans
You should choose IIIT Allahabad. In terms of academics, infrastructure and placements, it is ahead of the other institutes mentioned here. IIIT Allahabad alumni network is huge. Alumni of the institute are working at the higher echelons of the industry. The networking opportunities are plenty.  IIIT Allahabad placements have been great in recent years. For placements 2022 the average CTC offered was INR 19 LPA.
