Latest Updates: Applications for the GATE Entrance Exam have been scheduled from September 23 to October 28, 2020. Admit cards will be available from January 8, 2021 and the Entrance Exam has been scheduled on Feb 4 to 14, 2021. The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) located in the state of Gujarat was established in 2007 and headed by the State Government of Gujarat. There are many colleges which are affiliated under GTU which provides degrees ranging from a pharmacy, engineering, science, and management. The university has around 4,00,000 students enrolled in various courses. The university is approved by UGC and affiliated by AICTE.

The Masters of Engineering degree is a full-time on-campus degree. The mode of admission is through GATE/PGCET/GPAT.

GTU ME/M.Tech. Eligibility Criteria

For admission to ME/ M.Tech programmes, an applicant possessing qualifications mentioned below is eligible to apply:

For admission in M.E. Cyber Security (CE), students shall have a B.Tech degree in either B.E./B.TECH. Computer Science and Engineering or Information Technology Engineering or Information and Communication Technology.
Students shall also qualify for the qualifying exam with a minimum aggregate of 50% for general applicants and 45% for SC/ST/SEBC candidates.
For admission in M.E. ECE (Mobile Communication and Network Technology) students shall have a B.Tech degree in either B.E./B.TECH. in Electronics and Communication Engineering or Electronics and Telecommunication or Electronics Engineering.
Students shall also qualify for the qualifying exam with a minimum aggregate of 50% for general applicants and 45% for SC/ST/SEBC candidates.
Applicants seeking admission through the GATE exam shall provide a valid scorecard.
A sponsored applicant in addition to all the above-mentioned points shall have two years of full working experience in academic, research, or industrial organization relevant to the subject the applicant is seeking admission to.

Selection Criteria

The Masters of Engineering degree is a full-time on-campus degree. The mode of admission is through GATE/PGCET/GPAT.

Admission to the First year postgraduate courses shall be given under the following rules:

All the seats reserved under the State Government shall be filled on a merit basis. The same shall follow the guidelines prepared by the Admission committee prepared by the University for respective courses.
All the seats reserved under the management quota shall be filled based on the criteria made by the management committee of the respective Educational College.

Availability of seats:

Socially & economically backward class (inclusion of widow and orphan of any caste)	27%

Ex-Servicemen	1%
Physically Disabled candidates	5% of a reserved seat in each category

How to apply?

For the first-time registration, visit the official site
Candidate will see an option “New candidate registration”, click on the option and create Candidate ID by filling in all the relevant details (Candidate name as per mark sheet, ISD code, mobile number, e-mail ID)
Create a password for your ID and enter your security pin number.
The “Final submit” button will appear on the screen, after clicking the final submit button, the Candidate mobile number will be verified by sending you an OTP.
Verify Candidate accounts and complete your registration process.
For registered students, they can log in with a registered email ID and password.
After login, students will have to choose from the courses available for admission.
Fill in all the other relevant details (personal details, Sub- Category details, other information)
Upload all the documents needed for admission and click on “Submit and Preview”.
You will be redirected to your application page, where the application number will appear.
By clicking “Application form”, the incomplete application form will appear. Start filling all the relevant information in your application form.
Pay “Registration fees”.
Save your application number, ID, and password for future references.

Documents needed during admission:

All the document copies that are being submitted shall be self-attested.

Class 12th mark sheet.
School leaving certificate/ Transfer certificate
Diploma in engineering or Graduation certificate (including all the GPA/CPI in all semester)
Degree certificate
GATE scorecard
In the case of sponsored students, sponsorship letters issued by the respective organization/Authority.
In the case of reserved category students, all the relevant certificates and letters needed shall be produced during the time of admission.

Are Gujarat University and Gujarat Technological University two different universities?

After doing some research online regarding your question, I found out about both the institutes. Let me share the facts I got to know about them.

Gujarat Technological University -

Gujarat Technological University situated in Ahmedabad came into existence in 2007.
The university has 486 colleges affiliated with it and it provides courses in the field of Science and Commerce.
It is headed by the state government.
You can look for management, pharmacy, and engineering courses in the college for graduation and post-graduation.

Gujarat University -

It is also located in Ahmedabad and is headed by the state government.
The grounds that it differs from GTU are the courses it has to offer.
It has courses related to Arts, Science, Commerce stream and lacks any engineering courses.

If we look at the placement factor, then surely GTU has better prospects than GU. The highest package offered was 3.45 LPA in 2020 in GTU.

Choose the one that suits you and fulfills your requirements. Ultimately it is your decision that matters.

It is not right to say Gujarat Technological University is not good. I have a few friends from GTU and according to them, GTU is quite good in terms of syllabus and teaching schemes.

However, your experience will also depend on the institute that you are choosing. The faculties at LD Engineering college and VGEC are very experienced and they also teach well.

It really comes down to how you are utilizing your years at the institute. Overall, GTU is decent and you will have good opportunities at the institute.

If you are absent from an examination at Gujarath Technological University (GTU), the marksheet will show that you haven’t cleared the examination. There’s no exception for medical emergencies. You need to visit the student portal of Gujarat Technological University, to apply for the transcripts. Go to Certificate request after logging in. Select the type of transcript, i.e. Transcript. Fill in the required details and make payment. You will get a delivery date of transcript. Visit GTU campus on the given date with the Online Transcript Certificate Request Receipt and the required documents.

You can apply for WES, after receiving the transcripts. Here’s a list of the documents required.

It depends on the college you are choosing. But none of the colleges affiliated with Gujarat Technological University (GTU) are good for a Computer Science degree. Most students passing out with a CSE degree join mass recruiting companies. Very few good product based companies visit the university for placements.

For CSE, DAIICT, NIT Surat, or Nirma will be better in Gujarat. Otherwise, try to find a college outside of Gujarat.

Can we change the engineering branch and college in the 3rd year (5th semester) in Gujarat Technological University (GTU)?

Yes, it’s possible to apply for institute change in GTU, 2nd semester onwards. You can change from Govt. college to a self-financed college. You can also change from one self-finance college to another self-financed college. You will need a NOC from your college and submit it to the GTU office, to proceed with the transfer process.
