Andhra University offers a full-time three-year MCA programme that allows the students to seek professional knowledge and specialisation in the field of computer science. The MCA programme involves the study of various aspects of computational theory, programming languages, algorithm design and optimization, network and database management, mobile technologies and other related fields.
- The course is offered in full-time regular mode as well as in distance-learning mode by the School Of Distance Education, Andhra University.
- The duration of the MCA course is 3 years and the course structure spreads over six semesters.
- The sixth semester of the MCA programme is allotted exclusively for Project work.

The candidates applying for admission to the MCA programme at Andhra University must have the following educational qualification obtained from any of the UGC recognized universities/colleges:
- The candidate must have a BCA / B.Sc / B.Com / B.A degree or any other equivalent degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects at Intermediate or Degree level under the 10+2+3 pattern of education.
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Engineering are also eligible to apply for the course.
- The candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination. There is a relaxation of 5% for the reserved categories (SC, ST and BC).
- For lateral entry to the course, i.e, direct admission in the second year of the course, the candidate must have a BCA degree or any other Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications or Computer Science or Information Technology.
- The candidates who are appearing for the final year degree examination are also eligible to apply for admission to the course.

The selection of the candidates for admission to the MCA programme at Andhra University is based on the score/rank obtained in the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test (APICET). The candidates are then allotted the seat based on their score and preferences through online web counselling.

Andhra University MCA- Entrance Exam Details
APICET is conducted by Sri Venkateswara University on behalf of APSCHE.
- It is an offline examination, conducted in pen and paper mode.
- The duration of APICET is 150 minutes.
- Candidates can undertake the APICET exam in either English or Telugu language.
- APICET consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The total marks is 200.
- Each correct answer is awarded one mark. There is no negative marking.
- The paper is divided into 3 sections.
- Section A comprises Analytical Ability. Students are tested on Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving.

The applicants first need to register for the APICET 2021 examination at the official website of APSCHE (Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education). The successful candidates then have to register themselves for the Online Web Counselling for allotment of the seat. The mode of application for the course is Online only.

Andhra University offers the M.C.A. programme at the postgraduate level that involves both theoretical and practical specialization in the fields of Computer Science and Applications.
- The course structure involves core courses, elective courses, laboratory, project work and software design courses along with practical training.

Andhra University MCA: Assessment and Evaluation
The students are evaluated for the various subjects taught during a semester under two parameters: Internal Evaluation (Viva-voice, Two mid-examinations & Attendance) and Semester-End Examination.
- Both internal evaluation and semester end examinations are marked on the basis of theoretical subjects and practical courses/ industrial training.
- The weightage of theoretical subjects for internal evaluation and semester end examinations is 30 marks and 70 marks, respectively.
- The weightage of practical courses for internal evaluation and semester end examinations is 50 marks for both.

Getting a seat at Andhra University is very difficult. You must have a good score in AP EAMCET. General category students should score at least 40 out of 160 to be considered qualified. But if you want a safe score to get accepted into the university, you need a minimum of 110–120 marks to get any branch of Engineering at Andhra University.
Analyze the previous year’s ranks and cut off marks for getting admission in AU. If you want to study engineering like ECE, CSE, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc. then you have to score good marks because the competition at Andhra University will be high.

Pros:
- It is one of the oldest universities in the country, hence has a great alumni network.
- The student intake in each department is 30-60, which benefits the student-teacher interaction.
- Each department has its own dedicated library consisting of several books, magazines, journals, and other study materials.
- The campus is huge, covering 600 acres.
- They have the biggest sports ground. Students are also provided with a gym and basketball court.
- The entire campus is wifi enabled.
Cons:
- The placements are average. The number of companies visiting the college has gradually decreased.
- The lab equipment is not well maintained or upgraded.
- Andhra University follows the age-old curriculum with little to no changes.
- Students are told to put more emphasis on theoretical learning than practical.
- Exams are mostly based on theories rather than practicals.
Overall, it is an above-average institution. It may not be like the IITs or NITs but still works well. It is suggested that you opt for this only if you have missed the opportunity to study in the IITs or NITs.

- Take photocopies of all the attachments you want to get attested, like semester memos, provisional certificates, etc.
- Head to the first floor of the Chief administrative office (CAO) and look for the Registrar’s office.
- Hand your documents there, once verified, proceed for the payment of the transcript application fee.
- Keep the soft copies of all the attachments to be attested, these must be uploaded while proceeding for payment.
- After payment, get the receipt and hand over the attachments with it to the PA of the Registrar.
- The Registrar office will verify the payment and post stamps on them.

Every university that follows grading gives a certain grading range to multiply depending on predefined credentials. As per the grading range followed at Andra University, you will need to multiply 10 to your CGPA for any course, in order to convert it to percentage. The placements for MBA at Andhra University are good when compared to engineering. However, do not expect a package of more than 5 LPA.

- Academics: AU offers quality education compared to GITAM. You will also have plenty of time to participate in extracurricular activities, which have their value too. Not only this, but AU also offers exchange programs.
- Location: AU is in the centre of the city and on one side it has the RK beach. AU is 2kms away from the bus station and 3–4 kms from the railway station.
- Faculty: Sometimes AU professors allow scholars to take a class, which is not great. But the main faculty is really highly experienced.
- Campus: With a 350- 400 acres campus and buildings, gyms, stadiums, 2 grounds, and labs with equipment for research and practicals, AU can be said to have a nice campus.
- Placements: As for placements, GITAM has an upper hand, with packages ranging from INR 3 LPA to INR 6 LPA. But AU will provide students with the proper exposure, enough for them to secure good job offers.

Andhra University also has colonial-style hostels, with the availability of food for INR 2200 per month. AU has cheaper fees anyway, in GITAM the fee is between INR 1 to 3 lakhs for different courses but in AU it is the 10k-30k only.

Choose the tatkal option, it takes around a week. You need to apply and pay the required fees online. Take a printout of the receipt. Go to the examination cell.
