It provides the opportunity for specialist degree training in aspects of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS); focuses on transferable, employment-related skills and knowledge; provides UK residential fieldwork alongside opportunities for overseas fieldwork; uses the latest technological innovations in classroom and fieldwork contexts; and offers a wide variety of assessment types.
• Geography and German at the University of Chester provides a structured framework within which you move towards increasing independence.
• Introductory modules and modules in distinct thematic areas introduce you to theoretical concepts, and assessments help you to apply these concepts in increasingly challenging ways. Subsequent modules will deepen your understanding and you will undertake independent projects with the scope to pursue your own interests in the subject area.
• You have an opportunity to undertake a placement at the end of Year 2 (Level 5). Depending on factors within your mode of study, you may also have the opportunity to complete an academic year in either Germany, Austria or Switzerland.Ê
• In your first year you will have the opportunity to study a further language from scratch.

Job prospects
