- This is a research degree designed for practicing medical professionals who wish to undertake research in their chosen specialty and enhance their careers in the profession.
- Expert mentoring and supervision is provided by internationally-recognized professor-level senior consultants who are members of the University’s Clinical Medicine Research Centre (CMRC) within the School of Medicine and Clinical Practice (SMCP)
- This course aims to provide advanced clinical research skills and training to assist the students in pursuing their career in medicine and to enhance their patient care in a manner that is informed by an in-depth understanding of the research evidence underpinning their chosen specialty.
- Students will undertake a two-year research project and produce a thesis which is examined in viva in the same way as for a PhD. Students will be encouraged to discuss their research plans with a mentor in their specialism and will then be assigned supervisors in the field.

- A UK recognised medical qualification e.g. MBChB, MBBS.
- Registration with the GMC of the UK.
