• This course draws on the School’s considerable research reputation and professional expertise The Masters by Research in Art & Design offers an exciting new opportunity for students to study at the Masters level, follow an area of their own academic interest and under the supervision of published experts in their fields.
  • Students will be able to pursue topics from - and across - painting, photography, performance, film and video, sculpture, installations, public art, and printmaking.
  • Students will be supported by some of the most dynamic artists and researchers in the School. Alongside the development of their creative studio work, they will gain an understanding of key aspects of art history and theory, as well as an awareness of the social and institutional context within which artworks exist.
  • On completion students will have written an extended research dissertation or produced a practical portfolio of work, each amounting to an outcome of sustained engagement with their topic.
