In the Department of Mathematics, youÕll consolidate and develop your mathematical skills in new as well as familiar areas. After passing your Foundation Year, you can continue studying for a range of BSc degrees. Depending on your performance, you can study at MMath level.
How will I study?
You develop your basic mathematical skills and understanding. Modules consolidate Mathematics and Further Mathematics A-level topics, including concepts of proof and logical argument.
YouÕre introduced to statistical and computing applications, many of which relate to business models. Two projects allow you to explore mathematics that interest you. You might have the opportunity to take Foundation Mechanics or Foundation Programming. You also choose from a range of options including a language, academic development or business in society.
Each module has a number of lectures each week, supported by regular workshops in a smaller group. Module assessments contain coursework such as problem sheets, short exams, presentations and written examinations.
