• Students will study an exciting variety of novels, poems, and plays. They might find themselves looking for the psychological undercurrents in a fantasy novel, applying feminist theory to a Renaissance courtly sonnet, studying the motif of the vampire in Gothic horror, or exploring the treatment of love in the comedies of Shakespeare.
  • In Year 1, students will be equipped with the knowledge needed to study at degree level. Texts studied are drawn from the Renaissance to the present day.
  • Building on Year 1, Year 2 will give them the chance to pursue the study of literature that most interest them, as they will now choose five modules from a selection of options.
  • Year 3 will give students further chances to pursue the study of literature that most interests them. They will also work on a dissertation, where they study individually with a specialist in their chosen subject.
