TheÊB.Sc. in Health and Social Care at Cardiff Metropolitan University would particularly interest those who are not yet committed to one particular career but want a generic course; or who want to use the course as an excellent basis for more specific vocational training, such as social work or occupational therapy. The course would also interest those already working in the sector for where a HND or Degree would enhance their career potential.

This programme can incorporate a foundation year (year 0), for those students who aspire to enrol onto the first year of a science based honours degree programme within the Cardiff School of Sport & Health Sciences or Cardiff School of Education & Social Policy, who have not achieved the standard entry requirements, or who have not studied subjects that provide the necessary background within the scientific disciplines required to enter the first year of the chosen honours degree programme.

Students wishing to undertake the foundation year will apply for the degree programme they intend to progress to, using the relevant UCAS code listed on this course page and apply for entry point 0 on the UCAS website. As such, students following the foundation route will take an extra year to complete their honours degree.

Employability & Careers:

Our graduates usually find work in the health and social care field in the public, independent and voluntary sector, including the following areas: project management, probation, addictions, mental health, and residential care , dependent upon personal interest and experience. Graduates may also choose to pursue a post graduate qualification, for example in Social Work or Teaching in further/higher education. There are also other graduate opportunities outside health and social care, for example with the police.

For those students undertaking the HND, you can progress to year three of the Degree upon successful completion. ?
