Develop the skills and attributes for a career in physics or any professional occupation requiring confident, innovative, organised, numerate, analytical and strategic thinkers with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The course is suitable if you donÕt meet the entry requirements for our BSc (Hons) Physics course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other engineering, maths and physics foundation year students, then move on to the degree.
We have designed a balanced mix of activities to develop you as a professional physicist and enhance your future career prospects.
You learn through:
- lectures
- tutorials
- seminars
- laboratory sessions
- problem-based and practical activity-based sessions
- group and individual project work
- acting as mentors for other students
In the foundation year, youÕll study the fundamental mathematical and scientific principles that youÕll need at undergraduate level, and apply them to a range of different topics. YouÕll learn through many of the same techniques used on the degree course, and familiarise yourself with Sheffield Hallam and its facilities Ñ ensuring that youÕre ready to hit the ground running.
