Learn the specific behaviours and motivations of tourism consumers, industry operations, and understand the planning and development of tourism in various contexts and contemporary growth sectors in the industry. You can choose to specialise in adventure tourism and gain the skills and knowledge needed to manage and work in this dynamic and global sector.

The course is suitable if you donÕt meet the entry requirements for our BSc (Hons) International Tourism Management course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other Sheffield Business School foundation year students, then move on to the degree.

Learning and teaching is research-informed, as modules draw upon and relate to current research, including the work of our staff. You also develop research skills as you progress from academic reading and writing in the first year to designing, conducting, presenting and reflecting on your own research in the final year.

You learn through:

  • lectures
  • seminars
  • workshops
  • research projects
  • consultancy projects
  • essays
  • presentations
  • exams
  • reflective exercises
  • professional e-portfolio

In the foundation year, youÕll study wider business topics, while specialising in your chosen subject area. YouÕll learn useful skills such as academic writing, work in diverse teams and learn to utilise a wide variety of data sources. In doing so, youÕll fully prepare yourself for undergraduate study.
