Develop your cultural awareness by studying a language or spending a semester abroad through the ERASMUS exchange or our Learning in the Workplace initiative.

Our flexible, responsive programme is designed for you in collaboration with our industry partners to meet the need for forward-thinking, innovative hospitality graduates who can strategically manage complex hotel operations.

The course is suitable if you donÕt meet the entry requirements for our BSc (Hons) International Hotel Management course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other Sheffield Business School foundation year students, then move on to the degree.

You are taught by lecturers with a rich industry background Ð having held management positions in chain and independent hotels in the UK and abroad Ð who infuse teaching with research, industry expertise and passion for the hotel industry. You will be provided with a challenging and supportive learning environment where you will experience 'hands-on' practical learning combined with a traditional classroom environment.

You learn through:

  • video conferences with international partners
  • a consultancy project with a real-world hotel organisation
  • field trips
  • site visits
  • work with external organisations

In the foundation year, youÕll study wider business topics, while specialising in your chosen subject area. YouÕll learn useful skills such as academic writing, work in diverse teams and learn to utilise a wide variety of data sources. In doing so, youÕll fully prepare yourself for undergraduate study.
