Develop an expert knowledge of applied marketing concepts and gain practical experience in the workplace. You gain the skills and experience you need to develop an in-depth understanding of the principles and techniques of marketing and the ability to apply marketing knowledge to a range of business problems. Sheffield Hallam is one of the few universities in the country that has direct links with the CIM, allowing you access to their master classes.

The course is suitable if you don't meet the entry requirements for our BA (Hons) Marketing course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other Sheffield Business School foundation year students, then move on to the degree.

The approaches to learning and teaching on the Marketing course vary between modules. You will experience, and engage with a variety of learning and teaching methods on the course, which develops your knowledge, skills, and expertise.

You learn through:

  • lectures
  • seminars
  • problem solving exercises
  • case studies
  • self managed study
  • individual and group presentations

In the foundation year, you'll study wider business topics, while specialising in your chosen subject area. You'll learn useful skills such as academic writing, work in diverse teams and learn to utilise a wide variety of data sources. In doing so, you'll fully prepare yourself for undergraduate study.
