• Master of Science in Clinical and Molecular Microbiology at the University of Nottingham is a 1-year program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • This program is also offered on a part-time basis for a duration of 24 months.
  • The course has received full accreditation from the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).
  • Students undertake a 4-month research project in the laboratory within the faculty.
  • The course aims to provide training in theoretical and practical aspects of medical microbiology with a focus on clinical methods for diagnosis and patient management, and molecular biological techniques in research and diagnostic labs.

    • Human Pathogens
    • Viral Pathogenesis and Infection
    • Prevention and treatment of Infection
  • All modules and module resources, such as lecture PowerPoints, podcasts, and supporting literature are uploaded and accessed through Moodle, the University’s online virtual learning environment. 
  • Students will be expected to work both independently and as part of a group.

  • The school has excellent research facilities to support students practical training in:

    • FACS
    • biochemistry and genomics
    • tissue culture
    • microbiology and molecular genetics techniques
    • biofilm interface with biotic and abiotic surfaces.
